Happy Labor Day

For all of you that have today off, enjoy it! Ironically, the very labor union groups that are responsible for this holiday are at their lowest percentage levels in more than 70 years. Only 11.9 percent of American workers are in unions. Only 6.9 percent of private sector employees are in unions.

Now I know people have very strong opinions about unions. Personally, I feel like the overall idea of labor unions are good but might be a bit misguided when put into action. Regardless, you can’t let a few negative things ruin the good idea for all.

Whether in a union or not, you can all enjoy today off thanks to unions who indirectly pressured the government to make it a federal holiday in 1894.

So, Happy Labor Day!
